About the MNBP

The Madison Network of Black Professionals is a diverse group of individuals, interconnected by heritage, education, business, technology and social activities with the purpose of networking and sharing information of interest to African Americans in Madison, Wisconsin.

The Network was established in August 2004 with a group of 20 individuals who had an interest in connecting as professionals to help learn and leverage ourselves as active African Americans in Madison, Wisconsin. Since 2004, we have grown four times that size and plan to celebrate our fifth year in August 2009.

MNBP Officers
The work, activities, and planning of the Network is guided by the planning committee. The planning committee has the following functions:
  • Oversee and develop policy and procedures        
  • Create and manage by-laws                
  • Review overall direction and leadership of the organization
  • Mentor our members as needed/or asked
  • Conduct outreach to members to help their professional development


The planning committee consists of the following officers:

Chair - Provides leadership for MNBP, direct and lead the planning committee, lead all Network meetings.

Vice Chair -  Assists the Chair in the work of leading the organization. The Chair and Vice Chair work together to determine how duties will be split based on strengths and interest of the two individuals.

Meeting (lunch) Coordinator - Coordinates monthly lunches including invitations, location, speaker, and agenda.

Membership Coordinator - Maintains membership for new/existing members; responds to inquiries. Promote and recruit for the Network.

Activities and Events Coordinator - Facilitates and promotes internal/external group activities and events.

Network/Community Information Coordinator - Provides current and update information about Jobs, Info, and Events; Monitors contact relationships with Info, Job, and Event senders

Partnerships/Committee Coordinator - Facilitates, promotes, and monitors external partnership opportunities and activities.

Website Coordinator - Manages website domain and content.

Treasurer - Manages funds into and out of the MNBP Account, tracks payment of membership. Manages overall financial health and wellness of the organization.

Member at Large (2) - Represents perspective of membership and handles duties that are not assigned
