Our intent is to encourage and offer an opportunity for people of color in Madison to network, socialize and connect with each other. Ultimately, we want to encourage people who live in Madison to stay in Madison. We believe by creating a network and outlet for people of color we not only reinforce and support what we each do in our professional lives but more importantly connect on a personal level so that we feel part of the Madison community.
So, what does membership offer you? - You are invited to events that we host typically free of charge unless otherwise note
- You will receive emails about events, activities and head's up on activities going on in the community from your Network of peers
- Job Opportunities, Board and Committee opportunities in the public and private secto
- Opportunities to weigh in on public policy as a result of being part of the Network of Black Professionals
- You have the ability to host/sponsor a lunch
Most importantly - You have the opportunity to experience a network of professionals who are there to support and reinforce what you do personally, professionally and what we do together as a network in the community to support African American issues. Highlights of MNBP ActivitiesWe have had some wonderful speakers and events to date: a School Board Candidates Forum, Scott Gray the Urban League CEO, Jennifer Alexander - Madison Chamber President, Mayor Dave, Bob Wynn - Financial Investor and Entrepreneur, LaMarr Billups - Asst. to the Chancellor for UW Madison, Kathleen Falk - Dane County Executive. Governor Doyle and his cabinet members, Chancellor Wiley from UW Madison, summer picnic in June, professional roundtable in July, Holiday party and roundtable in December. We also partner with the Milwaukee Young Professionals, Urban League of Greater Madison, Madison MAGNET, Kraft/Oscar Mayer and hope to extend those partnerships to businesses such as volunteering in the community through coordinated program opportunities.
