About the MNBP

The Madison Network of Black Professionals is a diverse group of individuals, interconnected by heritage, education, business, technology and social activities with the purpose of networking and sharing information of interest to African Americans in Madison, Wisconsin.

The Network was established in August 2004 with a group of 20 individuals who had an interest in connecting as professionals to help learn and leverage ourselves as active African Americans in Madison, Wisconsin. Since 2004, we have grown four times that size and plan to celebrate our fifth year in August 2009.

Membership Overview

The Madison Network of Black Professionals strives to attract a diverse membership. The Madison Network of Black Professionals (MNBP) has a membership of nearly 100 members with careers that span virtually every industry including: banking, real estate, non-profit, insurance, education, law, politics and many others.

Benefits

  • Each of our monthly lunches is free of charge. You also have the ability to host/sponsor a lunch.
  • Ample opportunities to make contacts, exchange ideas, and interact with other black professionals.
  • Receive special invites to partnership opportunities. 
  • Full online access to the MNBP website.  You will receive current networking events, career and partnership opportunities, and community resources via our website. You will also be able to submit events, activities, and jobs information directly on the website.
  • Gain personal fulfillment by participating in MNBP volunteer activities.
  • Contribute to projects, initiatives, and policies that impact Madison.
  • Recognizing the importance of relationships, MNBP provides notice of social events where our members can often attend social outings, concerts, and theater engagements together, free of charge or at a discounted price.
  • Want to express yourself and gain experience? Opt for leadership in the organization or volunteer as a committee chairperson.

Expectations

  • Participate in monthly Network Lunches and actively recruit members.
  • Coordinate or host a lunch, a community activity or event and invite the Network.
  • Help promote and provide information that helps advance our professional and personal objectives as African Americans in the Madison Community.
  • Participate as a member of the Network in community activities and events during the year.
  • Actively support, through attendance, fellow Network members activities and events.
  • Actively support the Network by offering ways to help accomplish Network goals and administrative duties as needed.

Fees

New Member: $40 per year
A new dues year begins January 1.
Current members renewing their fee after January 31 must pay an additional $10 fee.

Application Process

  • Prospective members must attend one of our monthly lunches (they should be able to click on this word to link to the calendar of lunches) before applying for membership.
  • After attending one of the monthly lunches:
    • Complete the online membership application. Membership applications will only be accepted online.
    • Submit the membership payment at the monthly lunch; or
    • Submit the membership payment online by credit card or by check. Checks should be mailed to:

You may apply for membership at any time during the year.

  • Application forms should be completed in full. Please give contact address, telephone, and email addresses. We will normally send everything to your email address. Please indicate which email address you would like information sent to and which contact number you would like included in the MNBP Directory.
  • When we receive your application, it will be recorded in our database and submitted to the Membership Coordinator for review. After we have both your membership fee and have reviewed your completed application form, you will receive an acceptance letter.
  • Receiving an acceptance letter will allow you to create a user name and pass word to receive full access to the Network website.

What does it mean to be a Non-member (Guest)?

  • If you want to attend our lunches or other events you may for a fee ($10).
  • Limited access to the MNBP website
  • You won't receive emails about what’s happening in MNBP or special offers or opportunities
  • You have access to a network of Black Professionals to whom you can reach out to as it meets your needs by attending our events
    At anytime you can become a member by attending our event and paying the membership fee.
